CHEERS KATE AND WILLS!

So I know I'm a bit early but I'm so excited about this one! As Wills and Kate are getting married next Friday I figured I too had to celebrate this somehow. I've never really been a royal enthusiast, not into that sort of tabloid gossip (although I'm quite into other sorts!) and definitely don't have a 'royal mug shots' coffee mug collection. However, I figured I could show my support by...sewing! I got the idea when I saw this fabric at Walthamstow market on Saturday. The fabric is gorgeous, perfectly vintage and the price of £1 per meter only adds to its beauty.

I used the same pattern for this dress as I did for my gingerbread dress but this time around I used the pencil skirt pattern. The dress was easy breezy to make. For the first time I didn't have any setbacks or turmoils. The only thing is that when trying it on for the last time it suddenly felt a bit tight at the waist. Come to think of it perhaps that is the greatest setback of all! There's nothing worse than clothes that are too small. I walked around in it for a while and it wasn't too bad though. Perhaps I just shouldn't eat half of a Mississippi mud pie before I slip into this particular dress. There's nothing I'm going to do about it now - I've got bias tape along all major seams on the inside and that's not exactly something I want to undo!

footnote: this dress will also be perfect for a gathering in mid May with some very inspiring girls! More about that later but the theme is union jack inspired - blue, red and white!

footnote 2: I don't know what happened to the map. I think it just wanted to match the general messiness taking place in my room at the moment.

I went a bit crazy at the market - think I got enough fabric?

  1. The dress is lovely! Having just relocated from London, I was definitely planning on having Pimms on hand to watch the wedding, but hadn't thought about an appropriate outfit! And the shoes--they're so adorable and work so well with the dress.

I'm not a royal watcher, either, but I think it's nice they're happy and getting married. Really lovely.
