LIVING ROOM VOL. 2

Our living room did pretty much a 360 this weekend. It all started from my hunt for the perfect leather chair (as I mentioned in my previous post). I was pretty determined to find one. So, early in the morning on Saturday, my mom and I headed to Lahti, a smaller city about an hour's drive from Helsinki. I had made a list of all furniture flea markets in the area and mapped out in which order to visit them. My plan was so organized and well thought out.

About 60 seconds into the first flea market visit I scored majorly and would have no room in the car for anything else. Behind some rows of ugly 80's furniture I found these chairs. These amazing 60's electric blue velvet chairs. Pure amazingness. Unless they had arrived the same morning, I don't understand how nobody had bought them. So the armrests were greenish brown in color because of a huge dust layer, but besides that and a couple of small fixable holes in the fabric these chairs are in perfect condition. The best part? I got these chair for 5€ each. Can you believe it!? I sure can't. Safe to say I couldn't resist. I mean, who could resist blue velvet? So what happened to my hunt for the perfect leather chair? Well, these babies are equally as awesome (doesn't mean that I'm not still looking around).

So me totally loves these chairs. The pictures above don't do them justice. I took them at dusk when there was no light and they're so blurry. I'm waiting for a sunny weekend when I can take proper pictures of them (i.e. I will have to wait until midsummer). But these chairs just made the living room click. It feels right.

I also decided to move the mid century filing cabinet from next to the bedroom door to the opposite corner of the room to give the space some height. I also brought in my old tripod floor lamp for the same purpose and obviously for some extra light. I just need to change the shade - I'm thinking a simple drum shape.

The next big thing on the living room decorating agenda is putting some art on the walls. I have this amazing old education poster with the anatomy of a pigeon that I'm dying to hang up above the sofa with some smaller pieces surrounding it. Finding frames that are the right size seems like an overwhelming challenge at the moment. I'll make it happen soon though. But now I'm going back to my living room to adore it some more.
